NEWS
A daily commitment alongside people.

Reception, support, care. For us at these words are at the heart of our work. We are not only a social cooperative: we are a community of people who, every day, choose to stand alongside those living in conditions of social and health vulnerability.

We are there for older people, people with disabilities, refugees and anyone in a situation of vulnerability: professionals whose strength lies in experience and passion, who work every day to build the conditions that enable everyone to live with dignity.

We believe that our commitment goes beyond simply providing help: we meet people, listen to their stories and build relationships.

And this is precisely what makes us unique, because at Medihospes people meet people.

About Us

We are a Social Cooperative made up of over 6,000 people who work every day across different regions of Italy. We provide assistance and reception services, delivering more than 5 million hours of service each year for people in situations of social vulnerability: people forced to face a health problem or victims of a humanitarian emergency.

Every day, we care for over 22,000 people, seeking to respond to their needs in a careful and practical way. Around each person receiving assistance, a team of qualified professionals is formed, able to listen and to act with empathy and expertise.

Over time, we have built a strong network with a nationwide presence. We continue to work with the aim of improving the quality of our services, while maintaining a close focus on the needs of the people and communities we engage with.

United by the same passion, we have built a major Social Cooperative, which today is among the most deeply rooted and widespread across Italy.

VISION

The values that guide our work stem from recognising the sacredness of human life and the centrality of the person and their needs, from listening, respect and the willingness to offer practical support to those in situations of vulnerability.

Every intervention starts from this primary and indispensable premise: recognising the uniqueness of each individual and their specific needs.

We promote solidarity as a principle that guides our daily choices. We operate in a collaborative spirit, valuing teamwork and shared responsibility.

We consider responsibility essential, both towards the people we welcome and towards the communities we engage with. We act consciously, with the aim of building reliable and lasting relationships.

Finally, we recognise the value of expertise as an essential tool for ensuring effective and respectful interventions. We invest in continuous training in order to respond with seriousness and preparedness to the challenges we face.

MISSION

We identify with a central principle: creating the cultural and operational conditions to care for people in a holistic way.

Within this context, we are committed to removing the obstacles that may limit dignity and the ability to exercise the fundamental rights to which every individual is entitled.

Our day-to-day work is oriented towards promoting a culture of reception and solidarity that values participation and sharing. We identify with the values of inclusion. We reject all forms of discrimination, because we believe that fundamental freedoms must be guaranteed to everyone, especially to those living in conditions of vulnerability.

We are committed to an inclusion-based approach, fostering welcoming contexts in which differences are recognised and respected.

We work to facilitate access to medical care and support services, seeking to ensure that no one has to face difficult situations alone.

SERVICES
Home-based care: present on a daily basis

Caring for people, for us, means being present in their everyday lives, preventing unnecessary hospital admissions and providing appropriate support directly at home. We offer an integrated home care service, designed to respond effectively and promptly to the different needs of those who require medical care and support.

Comprehensive support at home

Through a team of qualified professionals, we provide personalised support that integrates healthcare and social interventions, with the aim of promoting the person’s wellbeing.

  • Personal care support delivered by Oss, home care assistants, psychologists and social workers.

  • Continuous availability, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

  • Management of non-self-sufficiency through individualised care plans (PAI).

  • Organisation of the home environment to support a better quality of life, particularly in the presence of chronic conditions.

Each intervention is carefully planned, involving family members and key contacts, to ensure appropriate, personalised support that is attentive to people’s real needs.

Support and rehabilitation for people with disabilities:
enabling an equal life opportunity for all

It is not just a job: it is a mission. Every day we care for those living with a temporary or permanent disability. Our aim is not only to provide support, but to build life pathways that restore autonomy, dignity and hope.

A journey to take together

We are a point of reference for every service user and every family who place their trust in us. We do not simply deliver care: we listen, understand and embrace fears and expectations. Every rehabilitation and support pathway is tailored to the needs of the person undertaking it, with empathy and professionalism.

To ensure tailored support, we provide treatments in different formats:

Through a team of qualified professionals, we provide personalised support that integrates healthcare and social interventions, with the aim of promoting the person’s wellbeing.

  • Outpatient
  • Home-based
  • School-based
  • Residential
  • Semi-residential

Thanks to our multidisciplinary team (made up of specialist doctors, rehabilitation therapists, educators, psychologists, social workers and personal care assistants), we provide targeted support to promote the recovery and maintenance of each person’s abilities.

Mental Health
Understanding and support to promote positive mental health

Every individual is unique, with distinct values, experiences and needs.

For us at Medihospes, recognising and enhancing this uniqueness is essential to promoting positive mental health. Our mission is to provide support that respects and celebrates each person’s diversity, through a professional, empathic approach grounded in attentive listening.

We carry out support, care and rehabilitation activities for people experiencing mental distress, from childhood through to adulthood, including interventions aimed at supporting and relieving families and caregivers, who represent the secondary target of our work.

Our method involves the intensive case management of adolescents and young adults experiencing mental distress, within their own family context.

This is a form of intervention and care delivered in the person’s usual living environment (home, school, leisure settings), outside the traditional hospital setting, with the aim of maintaining regular and frequent contact with the person, monitoring their psychological and clinical condition, and providing effective therapy and rehabilitation.

  • Intensive case management of service users within their family context: this is a form of community-based intervention and care delivered in the person’s living environment, outside the traditional hospital setting, with the aim of maintaining regular and frequent contact with the service user, monitoring their clinical condition and providing effective therapy and rehabilitation.

  • Skills-building and rehabilitation activities aimed at developing or restoring psychophysical and social skills: these activities are designed to engage young people and their families in promoting the skills needed for daily living, caring for physical and psychological health, addressing issues related to living together, school attendance and money management.

  • Support to access activities outside the family context: this provides encouragement to address difficulties related to interpersonal relationships in social settings and associated conditions (pathological shyness, social anxiety disorder, avoidant personality disorder, and the more recently introduced Japanese concept of hikikomori).

  • Rehabilitation therapies including speech and language therapy, neuro-psychomotor therapy, occupational therapy, expressive workshops, cognitive behavioural interventions, vocational and recreational activities, nursing interventions, and educational coaching.

To ensure tailored support, we provide integrated social and healthcare interventions with a strong healthcare component, or intensive educational programmes, through:

  • Therapeutic Rehabilitation Communities

  • Therapeutic Rehabilitation Day Centres

  • Outpatient rehabilitation hubs dedicated to people with autism spectrum conditions (ASC)” / “autism spectrum disorder (ASD),  DSA (Disturbi Specifici Apprendimento – Specific Learning Disorders), ADHD (Disturbo da Deficit dell’Attenzione ed Iperattività – Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), DEC (Disturbi Emotivi Comuni – Common Emotional Disorders)

  • Sports and artistic activities

  • Living settings (home, school)

Support and safeguarding for minors

Our attention to vulnerability begins with encounter—with taking the first step towards those most in need of support. Welcoming is the first gesture, the one that makes every other change possible.

Every day, we are committed to providing a practical response for those who are most vulnerable, in particular minors at risk of abandonment or social marginalisation. For them, we have created our Case Famiglia, a safe haven where children and young people are welcomed, listened to, protected and valued.

We do not simply provide a safe place: we accompany them through every stage of their growth, supporting their emotional, social and psychological development.

We believe that every young person has the right to build their own future. For this reason, we work with a network of businesses that offer training placements and employment-entry opportunities, supporting young people on their path towards independence, to give them a life opportunity—a concrete chance to become the protagonists of their own destiny.

Thanks to our daily commitment and the passion of those who work with us, we stand alongside each of them on their journey towards independence and personal fulfilment.

Medihospes Network of Anti-Violence Centres

Gender-based violence is one of the most serious violations of human rights. It profoundly harms those who experience it, with devastating physical, psychological, social and economic consequences. At Medihospes, we stand alongside those facing this painful reality, providing support, reception and pathways towards autonomy through our anti-violence centres, with the aim of helping every woman regain hope, safety and independence.

Our Anti-Violence Centres: A Safe and Protected Place

Our anti-violence centres are safe reception spaces, designed to provide protection to those experiencing violence. We offer comprehensive support, welcoming anyone who needs assistance, listening and guidance.

  • Listening and psychological support: We are here to listen without judgement, providing psychological support to help process trauma and rediscover the strength to face the future.

  • Legal advice: We guide women through the complexity of the legal system, explaining their rights and how to take legal action to protect themselves.

  • Signposting to local services: We help people connect with local services, ensuring access to resources such as social support, protection and employment opportunities.

  • Pathways to autonomy: We accompany each woman on her journey towards independence, supporting re-entry into employment and encouraging the building of a new life, free from violence.

Commitment to Prevention and Awareness-Raising

We firmly believe that gender-based violence must be prevented, as well as addressed. For this reason, we are engaged in educational projects and awareness-raising campaigns, with the aim of promoting a culture of respect and equality. Key activities include:

  • Educational projects in schools: raising young people’s awareness of mutual respect and preventing violent behaviour.
  • Awareness-raising campaigns: information activities to highlight the warning signs of violence and the resources available to those who experience it.
  • Training for professionals and institutions: training to strengthen the support network and ensure a timely and effective response.

Some are dedicated to more vulnerable people, such as unaccompanied foreign minors, women and single-parent households.

We work in partnership with public, private and religious organisations to develop integrated reception projects.

We promote integration through multidisciplinary interventions that contribute to the delivery of individual pathways towards personal development and independence, to build a welcoming and participatory community:

  • Linguistic and intercultural mediation

  • Material assistance

  • Listening and early identification of indicators of vulnerability

  • Psychological, social and healthcare safeguarding

A commitment to the future

Not only reception, but ongoing support: our actions are aimed at building a network among all those who, like us, are engaged in creating a welcoming community, ready to support the integration pathway of anyone who arrives in our Community.

We welcome, we protect, we support. Together, we build a fairer future.

Medihospes: reception, rights, identity

In an increasingly individualistic world, characterised by the crisis of the very concept of community and the emergence of the “liquid society”, the challenge is complex: tackling the risk of societies that are highly fragmented and lacking in solidarity is one of our main objectives.

Reducing social marginalisation requires coordinated action at individual, community and institutional level. We recognise that true value must be rediscovered through the development and implementation of initiatives that support a collectivist society, placing emphasis on values that prioritise group wellbeing, social relationships and community roles. For this reason, we direct our work towards promoting inclusion, ensuring access to healthcare pathways, education and employment inclusion, and placing legal, psychological and social support at the centre.

Reception

We welcome people living in situations of social, economic or cultural exclusion who, in most cases, do not have access to the opportunities or resources offered by society. For this reason, in our reception facilities, every action we take can make a significant difference in an individual’s life, helping them to overcome loneliness, poverty or despair, towards a better future.

Rights

People on the margins are often deprived of access to essential services such as education, healthcare and housing. Ensuring that these fundamental rights are accessible is a crucial step in promoting inclusion. This is why, in our facilities, we work so that migrants and refugees, people with disabilities, people experiencing homelessness, people belonging to the LGBTQIA+ community, women and children can feel like active members of society and develop a renewed awareness of the importance of placing themselves and their life plans at the centre.
