SUSTAINABILITY FOR THE SOCIAL COOPERATIVE MEDIHOSPES

With the aim of making its commitment to sustainability ever more tangible, and with a view to continuous improvement in this area, Medihospes had already decided in 2022 to undergo an ESG rating by Cerved. The following year, it prepared its first Sustainability Report, alongside its annual financial statements.

The Sustainability Report primarily responds to the organisation’s objective of formalising its commitment to creating a sustainable and responsible value chain—not only in response to clients’ needs and to current and future social, environmental and economic changes, but also to share its ESG (environmental, social and governance) performance with its stakeholders in a transparent and clear manner, mapping its pathway of growth and improvement.

The company mission:

The Medihospes cooperative grounds its identity in the creation of cultural conditions and system-level actions that promote pathways of , providing each person with targeted responses to their actual needs in terms of assistance, care, reception, integration, independence and development.

Medihospes is committed to joining forces to remove obstacles that may limit dignity or the freedom to exercise fundamental rights recognised for all individuals.

For this reason, Medihospes is committed every day to promoting a culture based on reception and solidarity, participation and sharing, acceptance and non-discrimination in relation to vulnerabilities and diversity, with the aim of improving the exercise of every person’s fundamental freedoms and facilitating access to care and assistance when needed.

RESPECT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

The cooperative is committed to ensuring that, in carrying out its activities—although these are not always of particular significance in terms of eco-sustainability impact—the environment and public health are always respected.

Accordingly, Medihospes pays close attention to the various areas where appropriate organisation and education in responsibility can reduce negative effects on the environment: from the proper management of separate waste collection at each site to the adoption of procedures for the disposal of special waste; from reducing the use of resources (more digital and less paper, remanufactured toner cartridges, recycled paper…) to the procurement of eco-sustainable products (particularly cleaning products) with low environmental impact; through to the management of equipment and systems oriented towards solutions with low energy and water consumption.

WORKERS AT THE CENTRE

The cooperative is aware of the significance that its activities may have for the development and overall wellbeing of the people who benefit from its services. Accordingly, the quality of relationships and service delivery becomes an essential requirement at the point at which each user is taken into care.

The same attention is also paid to staff, a precious and fundamental resource within the ecosystem of services and activities delivered by Medihospes: the cooperative safeguards and promotes the value of every worker, with the aim of enhancing and developing their skills, and valuing their initiative.

At the same time, the life of the cooperative—especially because it is engaged every day with the vulnerabilities of those it supports—recognises in every person an intrinsic value, independent of any physical, psychological or moral condition. Awareness of this responsibility is a foundation on which every member of the cooperative is called to contribute.

The free expression of every identity is safeguarded. Medihospes does not exert pressure to induce staff, users or any other stakeholder to act against their moral, religious, political or personal convictions. It also repudiates all forms of harassment, mobbing, bossing and behaviours or verbal statements that may undermine a person’s dignity.

On the same lines, in its relationship with staff and any other stakeholder, no discrimination is practised on the grounds of nationality, religion, sexual orientation, race, political opinions, or personal and social circumstances.
